Chichester Corporate Challenge 2012

After a very successful first running of the Corporate Challenge last year for Havant ac, we are this year planning to enter a number of teams. Each team can be mixed and made up of varying age groups. The dates are Weds Feb 29-Weds Mar 14 and Weds Mar 28, with each race starting at 7.15. The cost per race is £3.00 for an adult and £1.00 for students although this maybe refunded by the club.

If you are interested it is important that you contact Mike Williams at mikekwilliams@tiscali.co.uk by Feb 14 so teams can be made. Full details and entry form can be viewed and downloaded.

SEAA Road Relays

24th/25th September 2011

Rushmoor Arena

Saturday 24th September – Young Athletes and Senior Women

Under 15 Girls 2997m

Havant A Team 59th Havant B Team 60th

Georgie Lavery  13:19 Sharna Capel-Watson 13:48

Chloe Knight 14:44 Devon Brimecome 13:33

Alice Rorke 14:42 Lucy Emms  15:37

It has been several years since we entered teams into the SEAA Road Relays so for most of our athletes this was a new experience.  We had two under 15 girls teams and a partial senior womens team.

Georgie led the A team off, running well to record the clubs fastest time of the day before handing over to Chloe.  Chloe ran well in this her first time at this event and handed over to Alice on the anchor leg.  A good run by Alice hauled the team up to 62nd place overall (out of 63).  A good run by all three girls.

Sharna moved up to support the under 15 girls B team and led them off with a good run to finish just 29 seconds behind Georgie.  Sharna handed over to Devon who ran a very good leg, it should be mentioned that Devon delayed the start of her holiday so she could run.  Devon handed over to sprinter Lucy who ran a good last leg to bring the B team home in 60th place.  Again, good runs from all three girls.

Senior Women 3851m

Incomplete

Corin Reynolds  15:38

Grace Crumplin 17:11

Up until the Friday we thought we had a senior womens team but this was not to be so we ended up with just two runners.  Corin set off on the first leg, running well over the 4k course before handing over to Grace.  A good run from Grace but unfortunately no one to hand over to.  A big thank you to both Corin and Grace for turning out to run, hopefully next year we can field a full team.

Sunday 25th September – Senior Men

Senior Men 5994m

Matt McNamara  24:35

Chip Wrapson 23:58

Chris Spinks 20:21

Matt Gordon 21:45

Malcolm Lavery 24:50

Craig Berryman 21:42

It’s been many years since we had a senior mens team in the relays so it was good to see the Havant vest back on the start line.  A total of 68 complete teams ran and our men finished in 62nd place overall.  The team was a mixture of youth and experience and all gave a good account.  Matt Mcnamara took the first leg with a very strong finish before handing over to Chip.  A good steady performance from Chip over the two lap course before handing over to Chris, the youngest team member.  Hamstring problems have limited Chris’s running the past few weeks but this did not prevent him recording the teams fastest time of the day.  Chris handed over to Matt Gordon, again, another good run before handing over to the experienced Malc.  A good even pace run from Malc, handing over to Craig for the final leg.  Craig ran well although we couldn’t understand why Bournemouth were ahead of him as he made his final entry into the arena.  As they approached the finish we suddenly realised that Bournemouth still had another lap to go.  Good performances from all the mens team, well done to everyone.
