Southern Womens League Senior Team Report
High Wycombe, Saturday 30th April 2011
What a great start to the season, a superb TEAM performance and one of the most enjoyable matches I have been to. Everyone performed well to take the team to second place in the match and sixth place overall in the league. Not only that but we came away with a total of 26 personal best performances. I would also like to say a very big thank you to Jeannette and Mary for scoring the match, an excellent job.
Alice covered the sprints with a third in both the 100m and 200m. Thanks also to Alice for covering the A string shot (3rd) and a second in the B string javelin. Sarah Haywood ran well in the B string 100m for a fourth place and a personal best time, Sarah also formed part of the 4 x 100 squad Thanks also to Sarah for filling in on the long jump, fourth place B string and a PB. Hayley enjoyed a good day, winning both the 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles with personal best times in both events. She also ran the B string 200m and recorded yet another personal best time and a second place.
Corin covered her usual events and achieved a PB in the 800m,despite the windy conditions. Corin led from the gun and was never troubled, finishing 27 seconds ahead of the second place runner. She also had a comfortable win in the 400m, again dipping under 60s for another comfortable win. Aimee made her debut in the 400m with a fourth placed B string, she also filled in on the 80m hurdles for a B string win (and a PB) and then a second place in B string triple jump. Kirsten ran the B string 800m for a good third place, she achieved a PB and second place in the A string 80m hurdles and a third place in the 300m hurdles.
Grace ran the A string 1500m for a good second place then filled in on the javelin for a third place in the A string. Sarah J ran the B string 1500m, winning comfortably by almost 30 seconds. Amy ran the longest race of the day, not ideal conditions but the new positive Amy performed very well to win within just 5 seconds off her PB. Charlotte performed well and filled in wherever needed, thanks very much Charlotte. A double in the hurdles, winning both the B races of the 400 hurdles and 100 hurdles (PB). Charlotte also competed in the high jump (4th A string), long jump (4th) and triple jump (another 4th place and a PB) – a very busy day for Charlotte and thanks for filling in on the 100m 4 x 100 relay at the last minute.
Kelly and Sarah O teamed up on the pole vault for a good double win, this performance was repeated on the hammer, well done ladies, maximum points in the bag. Kelly also threw discus to win the B competition to complete her hat trick of wins. Sarah also finished second in B string shot and third in the A string discus.
